The history of Lahnstein dates back to the year 369 when the Romans built a "Burgus" on the mouth of the Lahn as a frontier fortification for the castellum "Confluentes". The multifaceted history of Lahnstein is documented in four different theme museums that are divided into six different historical exhibitions.
The Town Museum documents the founding history and development of the town Lahnstein and vividly presents all the important "milestones" of its history.
Two further museums are dedicated to the everyday work routine and traditions of the inhabitants of Lahnstein: Hard work days in mining and high spirits in carnival. You can relive both in a vivid way on a visit to the carnival- and mining museum.
In the historical hydropower plant you learn about the technical history.
